Dinosaurs make Hannah Vuong smile. The 14-year-old West Career & Technical Academy ninth grader translated that feeling into a design, entered it into a Design-A-Truck contest, and won. Now, her creation encompassing happy dinosaurs playing and relaxing has been converted to wrap a 28-foot Move 4 Less truck and can be seen around town helping families begin their new lives in a new home.

Hannah Vuong, a ninth grade student at West Career & Technical Academy, stands in front of her winning design for a Move 4 Less moving truck. Her classmates stand behind her and celebrate her win in the design contest by the local moving company.

The Move 4 Less Design-A-Truck competition was open to all Clark County School District middle and high school students in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. The only direction students received was to create a design reflective of something that makes them smile. The Move 4 Less tagline is “Smile! It’s Moving Day!”

When asked what inspired her design, Hannah said, “I like dinosaurs. I went through a dinosaur phase when I was younger and thought I’ll try that. They make me happy.”

Move 4 Less managers, employees and the two company owners voted on the submissions and selected Hannah’s design.

“We love connecting with community, and thought the student design contest would be a great way to do it and get fun artwork complementing our company philosophy. We were impressed with all the submissions,” said Maggie Kolesar, Move 4 Less general sales manager. “One of our favorite parts of Hannah’s entry is the T-Rex lounging with a satisfied ‘Grawr!’” Hannah said she put that phrase into the design because it reflects “happiness.”

The local family-owned moving company made the surprise announcement recently to Hannah and her classmates, along with teachers and her parents. Everyone was outside and cheered when the newly designed truck ‒ one of the company’s largest moving vehicles ‒ drove up to West Career & Technical Academy. The reveal was followed by presentations to Hannah, her teacher and school.

Hannah’s name, age and school are listed on her dinosaur Move 4 Less truck. She also received a gift basket with a $100 Blick Art Supply gift card and other supplies. Additionally, Move 4 Less gave $25 Blick Art Supply gift cards to the other students who submitted designs; a gift basket with a $100 gift card to Benjamin Martin, Hannah’s counselor; and a $1,000 gift certificate to Hannah’s business program, since she’s not in a formal art class.
