LIMA — Limaland Motorsports Park opened up the month of June on Friday night with the 20th running of the Keysor Memorial for the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks.

Jeff Matheny of Richmond, Indiana, picked up the $2,000 victory in the No. J1 Thunderstock. No. 65 Todd Sherman won the Northwest Physical Therapy DIRTcar UMP Modified feature, No. 24 Landon Simon picked up the Non Wing Sprint Car win, and No. 22T Tony Anderson survived a grueling Dirt Track Truck Series feature to get the win.

The race originally started as the Bobby Keysor Memorial Race in 2002 to honor the memory of the 1990 Limaland Stock Car Champion, Bobby Keysor, and was changed in 2013 to the Keysor Memorial following the passing of the family patriarch, Bill Keysor. The Keysor family has been well represented through the years since the 1950s at the Allentown speedplant.

In the $2,000 to win 15 lap Lock Sixteen Thunderstock feature, No. 1w Mark Wooten and No. 87 Andy Welch led the field to the green flag. Action ramped up right away as Matheny powered his way to the lead over the course of the first 2 laps, with No. 8c Jordan Conover following suit, making his way to second. Matheny survived multiple attempts by Conover to make a run at the lead and multiple restarts to grab the $2,000 check and trophy over Conover. No. 4m Gabe Mueller finish third ahead of No. 25 Nick Bowers and fifth place finisher Welch.

Next up were the Northwest Physical Therapy DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in a 20-lap main event. No. 16 Jeff Koz and No 34x Shane O’Connor made up the front row at the start and had company right away in the form of No. 65 Todd Sherman. The trio battled for the first 3 laps until Sherman grabbed the point on lap 4. No. 4L Mike Learman made his way under Sherman to grab the lead on lap 8 until the leaders found themselves in lapped traffic 2 laps later, which allowed Sherman to get back to the point. Multiple cautions plagued the final 7 laps of the event with Sherman winning over Learman, Koz, No. 9C Troy Cattarene and No. 36 Brandon Vaughan.

The Non-Wing Sprint Cars were next with a 25-lap feature. No. 26W Cody White and No. 9N Luke Hall brought the field to the green flag with White taking the early advantage. No. 24 Landon Simon got to the front on lap 5 and proceeded to victory over No. 21B Ryan Barr, No. 87 Paul Dues, No. 18 Dallas Hewitt and No. 21 Travis Hery.

The Dirt Track Truck Series wrapped up the night with a 15 lap A Main. No. 78 Dan Ramey and No. 9 Jamie Heiser led the feature field to the green flag with No. 10 Rolly Heyder and No. 22T Tony Anderson making their move to the top 2 positions on lap 1. The two battlde wheel to wheel through several caution flags until Heyder’s truck slowed on lap 7, handing the lead to Anderson. Anderson picked up the win over No. 20 Andy King, Ramey, No. 60 Joe Bell, and No. 17 Phil Hicks.

Racing returns to Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday with the running of the Ron Kahle Jr. Memorial, featuring the Ohio Logistics NRA 360 Sprint Invaders, the Northwest Physical Therapy DIRTcar UMP Modifieds and Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. General admission for those ages 16 and older is $12. Youngsters 11 to 15 will be admitted for $6 and children 10 and younger will get in for free. Pit passes for all ages will be $30. Visit limaland.com for more information.
