Paccar said Jan. 19 it is collaborating with Platform Science to integrate its virtual vehicle platform into its trucks.
The Platform Science Virtual Vehicle platform enables fleets to access telematics, software solutions, real-time vehicle data and third-party applications directly from the vehicles. Both Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks will have the native OEM platform integrated in them.
“The new services powered by Virtual Vehicle will leverage the existing connectivity capabilities of our heavy- and medium-duty truck platforms,” said Bart Lore, senior director at Paccar Global Connected Services. “Thanks to the new app ecosystem, Peterbilt vehicles will take a quantum leap in terms of uptime and integration to existing fleet management solutions.”
Platform Science said the platform provides fleets with flexibility and tools to boost efficiency and strengthen the driver experience. Customers will have access to a customizable platform to innovate, utilize, manage and deploy digital applications.
